check the DCE interface...

from the Telephone and Console installation guide,

Normal operating ranges
Telephones M2000 Series Meridian Digital Telephones have a maximum
permissible loop length of 3500 ft (915 m), assuming 24 AWG (0.5 mm) wire
with no bridge taps. A 15.5 dB loss at 256 kHz defines the loop length limit.

Attendant consoles The M2250 attendant console has a maximum
permissible loop length of 3500 ft (915 m), assuming 24 AWG (0.5 mm) wire
with no bridge taps. A 15.5 dB loss at 256 kHz defines the loop length limit.
