Hello, still new to the whole pbx arena and I need to upgrade my Nortel option 11c. We currently have 20 extensions on one of our floors and we aquired a new floor that has no phones. I need right now about 4 more extensions but would like to plan for the future so I am looking to actually add a card that would allow us to have 20 more extensions........If any one knows the model number of the card I need it would be of great help.........right now the model numbers I have are NTMW05aa and NTMW04aa and I don't know which one is the one that would add the extensions. Thanks in advance

Your Line Cards would be something like NT8D02 (digital line cards) or NT8D09 (analog message waiting line card). Each card allows for 16 telephone sets to be programmed. It is recommended that you not build all sets for a single office on one card. This is to protect your service to an area should the card fail.

How are you delivering service to the new floor? Are you having feeder cable run???

OTM Reports

NTMW05AA is a 24-port DLC (for digital stations)
NTMW04AA is a T-1 card (for trunks)

You would need another NTMW05AA in this case.

I don't think that the NT8D02 and NT8D09 will work in the 11C Compact, and if you have "NTMW" cards, then I would guess that's what you're running.

That explains why I didn't recognize the card numbers. I have Option 11C's but, not Compacts. Good call Arch.

If I remember correctly, you will also need to buy licenses to compliment the card. Similar (or the same as) ISMs.

papa-bear,

we have a option 11c

who do we buy user licenses from? Phone company?
I am guessing phone company buys it from nortel and then sells it?
Is there any other source other than the phone company that we can buy user licenses from?

I also have a second question-
I am in the process of replacing our analog cards with digital (2 of them for now)
Would you (or anyone else) be able to help with how to do so.

I am thinking that I should move or disable or out the TNs on each analog card.

Then , I pull out the card, however, I am curious is there steps and commands on specific loads that I have to issue before I pull out a card. Moreover, does the PBX (option 11c) have to be powered off to pull out a card?

Any details with replacing the analog card with a digital is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

jack,

when you said do a backup, do you mean backup the pbx, in which case i would have to do that before i do any of these?

or, after I program the new TN's? Thanx for your help.

Yes backup pbx -- LD 43 EDD.

Will not hurt anything to do one before you start and another when you are done programming.
