Good Day Folks.

I would like to reduce BChannel usage by using BARS to prevent staff from dialing DIDs that are going to the CO and come back into the PBX. I would rather BARS know it is a DID and keep the call internal.

Assuming DID Range is: 222-333- 4000 to 222-333-4999
AC1 -NPA-NXX-XXXX
9 -222 -333- 4000

Example: People on the PBX are dialing 333-4111, the call is going over COT trunks to the CO and then coming back in the PBX to DID 333-4111

Do I use Digit Manipulation? How do I strip away the NXX?
What commands in which ESN overlays do I use. Is it also necessary to strip away the NPA (10 digit dialing is scheduled for June in my area)?
Will I be able to dial local numbers with the same NXX that are not DID's on the PBX? Example 333-5000
Have any of you had something go terribly wrong?
How can I test it to confirm that it works, LD 80 trace?
Will this have any effect on my IDC table?

Thanks,

8 digit internal call + DMI

I think this might one way of doing this...

In overlay 90 lookup Supplemental Digit Restriction or Recognition (SDRR) specifically look at LDID.

All of my sites are 7 digit extensions so in the NXX block for the on switch numbers I have SDRR with LDID of the leading extension digit.

I'm not near my terminal so I'm going from faded memory here...

If I have site with 555-1000 - 1999 then in LD 90 NXX 555 would have a LDID setting of 1 indicating to the switch that 555-1xxx is local, there is also a DMI option with LDID if you need it.

Hey Slag,

Thanks for the info, I'm not exactly sure what I need, so you might as well give me the DMI option with LDID. I'm guessing I would use one of these 2 options and not both right?

DMI is inclusive with LDID, if you don't need it then just use a table that doesn't do anything.

I think the DMI is used to get the proper number of digits for termination back on the switch so it depends on the length of your extensions, in my case I'm using 7 digit extenions and when LDID is invoked at the NXX prompt the system has the 7 digits it needs (the 9 is asorbed as the AC) if I were using 4 digit extensions I would try having the DMI delete the leading 3 digits, 2 if I were using 5 digit extensions.

Here's a real life example from one of my sites that has a few number ranges in the 567 nxx.

This site has 567-7300 - 7699.

Quote:
NXX 567 7
RLI 3
DMI 52
LDID 3

LDID 4

LDID 5

LDID 6

SDRR LDID CODES = 4
ITEI NONE

DMI 52
DEL 0
CTYP NCHG
Everything that doesn't fall into the LDID criteria goes out RLI 3 the LDID stuff gets treated by DMI 52 (does nothing since I'm using 7 digit extensions) and terminates back on the switch.

I think there are a couple other ways of doing this but this seems to be the popular one for the network that I service.
