I have a customer that is using the Multi tech II MT 3284. Everything was fine when they were using the US Robotics modems, now I am having a terrible time dialing in with the Multi tech modems, TTY ports are disabling all of the time, etc... I every thing set to 8-N-1 9600 no flow control. Does anyone out there have any experience with these things.

I called the Multi tech customer support. No Luck!!!

Multitech modems

That's just great! I have the same problem with Robotics modems. We no longer use them, and all of ours have been switched to Multi Tech. So far, we have had no problems.

Do you have a example of the programming you can send?

Pretty straight forward, 9600-N-8-1, except I use hardware flow control.

That is what I thought to. Are you using the logi and password for the modem before you actually get to the TTY port? Once we get past the Password, DB that is when we have the problems.

The reason the customer wants to use these modems is for the added security the modem offers.

I assume you are using the password and dial back feature of the multitech modems?
Make sure you have the call back connection set to the appropriate speed.
Keep me posted if this helps, thx.

Try M-7-1 and chg the baud rate to 1200 or 2400 if you can.

Good Luck!

Make sure the modems are set in "Dumb" mode, the PBX will not tolerate smart modems

They definately will not work in smart mode!

Have not used the logi and pwd for the modems, just straight thru.
