Hi!

I am facing a problem since a long time. Asked both CISCO and Nortel, but with no luck. Probably somebody here can help me.

Setup :

I have Nortel 61C at our corporate office and 11C at each branch. All the locations are connected to Corporate using CISCO 3745 router.

Problem :

Some times when any external caller (may be from other branches or some PSTN caller), the caller does not hear any ring back tone, but the called party hears the ring on the phone. Once the called party picks the phone, there is no voice from either side. After trying multiple times, the call gets through. This does not happen to any particular Ext. It happens randomly.

Observation :

What I observed that, when the call falls on some particular PRI channel, the call goes speechless. After I disable those channels, the problem does not happen any more. But day by day the speechless channels got increased. Finally I need to power down the Router and the problem resolves. Again after an interval of 2-3 Months, the problem re-appears. Again I need to reboot the router.

Does any one have same type of problem. Thanks in advance

Ranjit

Sounds like a memory leak problem on the Cisco box since rebooting it solves the problem. Maybe it is not releasing DSP's?

I seem to remember that they had a DSP issue on their dual port PRI interface cards where they ran out of resources.

From the Nortel side of this problem, make sure your PBX has all of the updated patches, PSDL, and firmware loaded before ponting any fingers out to the other end.

My rule is to prove it's not me before I point the finger at someone else!
