re:

What kind of cable would I need to relocate the console 20 ft away from the phone system? Is it a standard serial cable? Is there any special pin out I should be aware of.

Option 11 Relocating Console 25 feet away

Your best bet is to run a new 25 pair cable to the new console with a female adapter from a terminal (TN) on your MDF and kill the old connection (unless the old connection will reach).

You newly wiring a standard serial cable(RS-232). Or the following products can also be chosen.

When using this product, it is necessary to change into 9 pins (Dsub) from 25 pins.
