Splint - If the Cnt and List commands in LD 81 aren't doing the trick.

Then I'm sad to say, the switch isn't going to help you.

You'll need to visually trace and inspect each jack location or break out your Volt meter and start checking jumpers for a 'Ringer' load of about 1K or so.

Even checking the ringer load will not give you modems and the like. For that you would need to set up a path check - Going down the Tip side and see if you're getting voltage returned on the Ring Side.

If so then there is end equipment on that line - If not disconnect and see who complains.

what I normal do is look at a site extn list, usually with the receptionist. and compere it to the total TN DN list on the switch, any programmed analogues that are not on the extn list, maybe spare.

Then I ring to see if anyone answers
if they don't then you may have to trace the wiring or do a test as previously stated.

What you could do is get a load of DIS pegs and use them on the unknow working analogues and see who shouts "my phones not working"

Also we have call logging software on our bigger sites so I use this as an aid too.

Ditto... but I'm lazy and we account for CDR both ways so I have a custom report that shows 500 sets with no usage based on no CDR works good as long as I remember the break room / elevator phones that don't generate much if any CDR.

What do you use to generate this CDR report? Do you use MAT???

If so, what filters did you build to isolate these sets?

I am not a MAT person so, I will be sharing this with another engineer.
