Meridian Mail from the Outside

I am not familiar with how to get the ran recordings back, is there a process to that or should I speak with my vendor

Users complain customers can't hear them. (Meridian)

First your going to have to go back to your RAN and find out what type you have before anyone can give you a pointer on re-recording them. If your not sure what your RAN is, go to 1 of the TN's that is programmed for route 12. Trace out the wire all the back to "presumably" a 25 pair connection on your frame. It might or might not be labled RAN or something like that. Anyway, then trace out the 25 pair to the equipment.. should most likely be in the same room as the switchroom. Let us know how which type is hooked up.

mrmike: Guess we still learn things every day. Although I dont have a lot of exp with rans, I had never seen, nor used that "RAN" prompt in all my days.. thanks for that one

calling card setup

One more thing to remember. When you printed the RDB on route 12 look at the route and see what TARG it is set at. Then print out your phone TNB that you are calling from and look at your TGAR. If these match, then you will get a fast busy b/c as if the Targ on the route matches the TGAR on the phone, the Access code will not let you out. To remedy this, change the TGAR on your phone to something else.
Example: If the TARG on the route is 1 I would set my TGAR to 0 on my phone and then test again by dialing the access code.

Transferring a call externally

thanks for the information buckshot and phonechick. It's been a really busy day for me here and I'll have to get back to this tomorrow. I'll reply back asap. Once again, thanks so much.

Nortel Symposium?

changing the tgar to 0 on my desk phone doesn't help my ability to reach the ran device via the access codes. As far as tracing the wire from the physical punch down block. System says it's on 5 1 and 5 2 however there are no pairs punched down to either of those blocks which tells me, there is no RAN device, so now I am really stumped.

Patch to wrong translate DSS1<->SL1

Looks like this is something a little deeper than 1st thought. I am not familiar with Miran cards, so I have no documentation. Lets either rule them out or in, then proceed. Open up the PBX so you can see what type of card is in slot 5.. if its a Univ Trk card, then we have an external RAN situation. If it IS a UNIV Trk card, go to link below, and see if you dont have one of these type things there in the switchroom:

http://www.interalia.com/Telecommunications/TelMMU.html

If you do have an interalia, on that very page is a link to the manual for hookup and recording directions. If your trunks are programmed, and your route is built, then it shouldnt be all that hard to get it working. Let us know whats happening, or if your stuck.
