I currently work for a school district and we have unwanted external calls going to one DN. Is it possible to restrict that phone to allow only internal calls incoming? We are looking for ways not to lock our entire system.

If you want to block people, outside your PBX, from calling the DN on your PBX then, change that DN to a non-DID extension number. That way your staff can still call out but, you must be on the PBX to call that extension.

You could always use an Incoming Digit Conversion table to route that DID to a RAN or just send it off into oblivion. Or to voicemail. RAN, Voicemail, Oblivion -- your choice. I like to use oblivion.

jhsiao - Welcome to the site.

I'd suggest changing that DID to a non-DID.

Also - just a FYI: A Symposium Call Center Server (I don't see why a school district would have one). Allows you to block calls based on CLID. For example: If CLID = 222-333-4444 THEN DISCONNECT

I use SCCS to block harassment calls to different departments on our property.

You may be able to contact your Central Office and ask them to block calls from 222-333-4444 from being delivered to your DID range.

hmursal152 - let's say for example you have a DID 222-333-7999 and you want to send calls to that number to voicemail greeting "This line is no longer accepting calls".

Let's say your VM DN is 7111

LD 49
IDC 7999 to 7111
In your VM have a greeting only mailbox: 7999 that states the line is no longer accepting calls.

Or If you have SCCS - you can do the same as above except...

LD 49
IDC 7999 to CDN :6999
Script checks for CLID if call matches CLID it's disconnected. If not it's delivered to the set.

Hmm... I would change it from DID to just an internal DN but all classroom numbers are internal DN's. I would have tried creating a table or blocking specific numbers coming in but these are prank calls from a blocked number. What does the class FRE do?

I'm not understanding. Are these prank calls coming to this phone from on switch? What difference does it make if the classroom phones are non-DID. They would be able to call any set that is on the PBX so, they would still be able to call the set in question.

If pranksters are off switch then your best bet is to change the number to non-DID. If pranksters are on swich then you need to explore your call tracing applications to root out the source of the offending set.

I must be missing something. Sorry!

I'm going to attempt the FRE. Will let you know how it all goes.

The pranksters are calling from off the switch from some sort of cell phone or home number they call into one of our menus and then dial and extension to get into a classroom. Again all classroom numbers are non-did's
