Hey all -

A buddy of mine whose a local Nortel tech told me about this odd occurrence on an 81C @ Rel 3 w/Symposium using 2000 series sets. Every so often on the top line of the LCD display a phone will get the message "Server Down". The client said this started when they went to 3.0.

The telecom guy on site knew it's an odd-ball and actually took a photo of the display. It has been puzzling quite a few people even within Nortel. Apparently there's another site or two out there doing this and no one knows why.

All the obvious causes were explored but everyone seems baffled by it.

Anyone come across this and/or have the reason /solution behind it?

Scott

Calls dropping to AA?

Scott,

I beleive I used to see this on the old I2004 phones. We had all the phones plugged in, but our old ITG card was not properly configured, so that message would display.

I called my buddy and gave him your info. The enduser does not have ITG cards in use. He did say however that he now knows that the sets that are showing this message are on a Telestrat card (used for recording sets).

Sounds like he's narrowing down the issue.

Again...things you'll do when winter lasts for 6-8months.

It probably means that the IDVR recording server is down.

(At least thats what my sets that have DNs recorded by the IDVR system said last week when I shut down the recording server service).

If the Telstrat cards worked before the upgrade, I would think they "should" work afterwords...unless there is an IP conflict or something going on in the customer's network. With my Telstrat (er, Nortel) RLC cards, to the switch they look like a digital line cards and don't even know they have additional functionallity.

Let us know what you find out, or post back if you have additional questions.

Telstrat is exactly the right answer and that is a normal function indicating that the card isn't communicating with the server for whatever reason.
