Hi all - I'm trying to make sense of why someone programmed individual analog ports to provide a "phantom" port for individual voice mails. Each users DN appears on their 2008 which a dept DN with V/M and MWI are also programmed on. I heard of using remote "beehive" lamps to provide MWI for the dept general VMB then I can eliminate the extra analog ports that were programmed. My question - do these "beehive" lamps get terminated directly to an analog port? Do I need a resistor or something paralleld across T1R1. My thought is to program this beehive port and set the Message Waiting DN in Meridian Mail to that port. The M1 is rls 19 so I cannot use XMWK. bummer

RE:

Yes the behives hook to a standard analog port. No special resistor is needed as these lamps react to the MWI voltage that is applied to the line. You need to have the 500 ports programmed as MWA (Message Waiting Allow) and LPA (Lamp Allow) in CLS.

I don't know if this works in rls 19, but you could use RMWK... (Remote Msg Wait Key)

I have a similar setup on one of my switches, where a dept. has a bunch of sales reps w/ voice mail but no fixed set. There's a M2616+addon at the front desk with RMWK's for different phantom TN's associated to voice mailboxes. You don't really need an analog port for this, and looks cleaner than a peg board with LEDs on it.
