"please wait while we try to connect you" but how to set up?

I am not sure I can explain this right but I am going to try anyway .

Right now on our option 11 phone switch we have two current Ring Groups. One that only has 2 poeple on it (For the CEO's admin assistant) and one primary for the rest of the company. Right now as it stands when a call comes in to one to the admin assistant and they are not in the office instead of the other receptionist walking over to the desk that is ringing, she can pick up her phone and dial a code to pick up the call.

Now here is the issue: It seems that when someone from the primary RNPG calls somone else in the same RNPG, it is ringing on this secondary RNPG and the admin assitant picks up the call after dialing her code. It doesn't happen often but it happens enough to raise an eyebrow or two. If you are not understanding my issue in writing here is a sort of technical view of it.

Reference:
RNPG 0 = Admin Assistance
RNPT 10 = Primary Staff

Issues:

Call from RNPG 10 tries to call another from RNPG 10, phone in RNPG 0 rings, Admin Asst dials code to pick up and find that is not meant for them.

Now keep in mind this seems to only be happening when this code is dialed to answer the phone now when the call is going directly to them. Any input would be helpeful.

Thanks

Let me see if I got this staight, someone in RNPG 0 can pickup calls for RNPG 10? Can all users of RNPG 0 pickup calls for RNPG 10 or is it just one individual? I would verify that first. It seems that there is a digit added or missing from one of the users in that RNPG.

Yes calls from RNPG 0 can pick up calls from RNPG 10 but there should not be a reason to if no one is calling them, I mean there phone should not ring at all. The only reason for the separate RNPG's is for the admin assistants to field calls for the big boss. If anyone from RNPG 10 or outside the company tried to call one of the big wigs, they would have to go through the admin assistants first no matter if they dialed the admin assitants directly or the big wigs themselves. I checked the lay out of both phones and they are identical accept for the RNPG's which is I believe how it is supposed to be. It is like that for all other phones in the company. Like I said this problem happens very randomly.

Well this was my fault. I misread the extension of the incoming call. Once I found the right one and check its layout it was in the same Ring Group. I just needed to change it to the primary. You were right there was a digit missing. The funny part is this phone has been in the system for years now and this problem has never shown up before, how is it that it would show up now? I mean do I have like little gnomes in my system changing little things?? Or is this God's way of giving me job security

Did I read you right?, you said they dial a pickup code? what kind of phones do they have. Why don't you just have the boss'es numbers on the Secty phone, then she wont need pickup. If they don't want the boss'es number on there phones, why don't you use a call pickup key on the phone instead of dialing a code?.
