Hi,
Anyone have a Qsig tie to Alcatel PCX? I have a problem here. The link is OK but when Nortel user make a call to Alcatel user that was forwarded to another Alcatel extension, call was cut off after 4 ring. Understand that Alcatel system send a request to Nortel system and expect a respond. If no respond, Alcatel release the call.
Thanks
Ric

I have found several references to this issue you are experiencing. This may be addressed with some patches. This issue is a complex one, and there may be some country specific issues that come into play.

Have your vendor do a patch audit on your Meridian PBX, address the patch issues and if the problem is not cleared, contact GNTS for support and resolution of the problem.

Nortel got a patch but is not free of charge. They say it an enhancement patch, so there a cost involve and it not cheap.

The patch you are refering to is listed as a Product Improvement patch. PI patches are sometimes chargable because we are changing the design intent functionality to suit a specific circumstance.

In this case, we are regressing our Q.Sig code to be compliant with an out of date standard to match that on the Alcatel. So we are actually fixing their problem. What should happen is Alcatel brings their Q.Sig code up to a more current standard, or developes a patch on their side to properly handle this scenario.

I am not really going to add any value, but I found this document that describes the level of compatibilty between an Alcatel and a Nortel switch over QSIG.
