I know from past questions that there are a multitude of ways to record conversation on the Meridian digital sets. We already record using a (Racal) Mirra Series II recorder at one location. However, we need to record conversations on two Meridian Option 11 switches located across the site. One Option 11 is about 1000 feet from the recorder and the other is about 4 miles. My solutions are:

A. Put a digital recorder at each Option 11 = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

B. Push analogue audio signal (via copper circuits) from Option 11's to existing recorder = less $$$ but what technology to convert from digital to analogue???

Does anyone do option B? I know there are ADA's from Nortel but my techs don't like using them for this application. Does anyone use third party equiment like (like MCK's Expandable DAC)???? Any help would be great!

Been using an EDAC for several years, no problems.
But the output is going to a digital logger only about 1000 feet away.
Don't see why it couldn't be boosted though.

Don't know how many channels you want to record but you might just use a PC onsite and download captured sound files.

x2 on the E-DAC, been using them for a few years now and haven't had a single problem with them. Boosting it across the copper shouldn't be much of a problem as long as you have good copper.
