Location: East Coast Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Companion Option 11E, currently has (2) T1's coming in from telco and (2) T1's going to Cisco VoIP network. We shut down the T1 with our clocking source from telco and are currently in free run. Its been stable for a few weeks (no slips) and within a couple weeks, I will shut down the other telco T1 .. which leaves me clocking in either free run or making my new primary source the T1 going to VoIP. Has anyone tried this and was it a success? Another quick question for you techies out there. If I'm in free run, does that mean I am clocking off my own internal source (my clock controller card), and not getting any external clocking source(s).. correct or incorrect? I've always thought that was what free run meant, and I even remember reading it as such... but was just told by engineer from vendor that free run means I am getting clocking from external sources still. Thanks [Edited on 24/1/2003 by Buckshot]

Location: Chicago -- CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE Rep Power: 12 ![]() | Telnet password to ITG card OK, Jump in where I go wrong here but my understanding is that you should ALWAYS clock from the most reliable source -- highest Stratum Clock refference, regardless of parts. This can get very interesting in a networked PBX enviornment, although it doesn't have to be. So in this instance, since Cisco is -- or is suppossed to be, sorry they've lied to me TOO MANY times -- clocking from network, all of the links should refference same clocking source aka network. What did I miss? Jack __________________ Dogs rollover Phones hunt

I agree with you Jack, if the Cisco is clocking off a Strat-4 then the T should be clocking from the Cisco (I'm with U 2 Fletch) __________________
