I am starting a new position and I am not a nortel person. I was told the new system being installed is a 5100??. I have some exposure to the 11c and 81 but never heard of the 5100. I want to look into some training for this system since I am a Avaya/NEC person. Where should I start training wise, and who should I look at. IE global knowledge or someone else??

Thanks
T

Hey T,

Sorry I missed this question,

Anyways, the MCS5100 is a beast. Tons of features and run on Sun Servers.

The administration is pretty good. The features are great. This system is like a MSN Messenger integrated into a phone system.
Web Collaboration, Webpage Sharing, Instant Messaging, Click to Call, Comprehensive Directory, Buddy List, File Sharing, White Boarding, Custom Call Routing For you, and presense (Who's Online) and many more...

It is just a incredibly robust system and it is extremely scaleable for small to large enterprise networks.

GlobalKnowledge is about the only place that I know of that currently offers any training on this. It is still a new product,
The current releases are MCS 5100 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5

I will write up a tutorial on it and post it soon.

Do you need admin training or end user training?

Hope that helps.

Good!

Hi,

Excuse me. Could you introduce MCS5200, is it like MCS5100? I do not have any document about MCS5200. Thank you!

Peter

MCS5200 - it's carrier solution. But the main idea just the same as MCS5100 - softswitch based on SUN servers. Main features are also the same and MCS5200 for today has some improvements that MCS5100 will have only in next release.

MSC5200, as I said, carrier solution, and Nortel don't like to publish carrier grade documentation on unauthorized access. Unfortunatelly I don't have such access.

We have had MCS install for over an year now and can not ge the thing to work. The IM piece was oversold the conference bridge can not accept access codes and the hardware was moved to the new platform after we installed. I would like to slavage this purchase with any tutorial someone may have to try and put this very expensive box to good use.

Thanks
T
