moving extension

Hi,

We use an avaya ipoffice 403 switch and lucent aregntphone switch for the extensions. I recently moved a user. I can ring internally, but not externally (the phone just beeps if a try to dial out). If people try to ring me the phone dosnt ring and i still have a dial tone.

I have switched telephones, connecting cables and tried using another port that i know works, still the same problem.

This seems to happen each time i move an extension.

here is what i normally do:

1.Note the port no of the current extension, and where the phone will move.
2. delete the extension on the new port
3. Delete the extension off the old port
4. Edit the new port so that it points to the new user

This worked fine for me in the past, but no longer works

any ideas?

many thanks
Paul

Paul,

Do your users have to login to their phones to use them. I have 4 IP Offices throughout Colorado and when I have to move a user I make sure that they re-login into the phone.

Hi,

The users only have to log in to use phone manager on thier pc. The telephone should work regardless of wether they do this or not. Im wondering if theres a setting im supposed to set?

im really scratching my head at this, as it used to work before.

thankyou for your help

Paul

You've probably sorted this as it's been some time since you posted it. But it simply sounds like you have the wrong xtn number.

Do you have any display phones (DT3,DT5,2030,2050)?? Press the Program button on this phone and it will show you it's xtn number. Call that xtn from the phone that you're having problems with and it will show you what it's xtn number is.
