Question Toshiba DK40i programming question

Greetings from analogland!

I found this site during a search for info sparked by a request from my G.M. The link to "wedophones" bagged much-needed manuals (THANX!)

We have a DK40i system with several EKT6510-H and two EKT6520-SD extensions (no Attendant consoles or other accessories).

Extensions are connected to logical ports 012 (x20) through 019 (x27); ports 020-027 are available but not currently used since our downsizing.
Logical ports 000-007 come out to a punchblock but have never (to my knowledge) been used, although I found an RJ-11 jack (2-wire) onto port 007. (Whatever happened to 008-011?)

Would like to change the ALS on one extension but cannot access setups. Tried a '6520 on several of the 012-019 ports without success. Tried it also with a (4-wire) RJ-11 onto port 000 but phone is dead. Inside DK40i base unit is a KSTU2A board whose jumper is disconnected from main board.

Is there any way I can access the setups with a '6520? There's no PIOU or PIOUS (odd name for that one, eh?) nor do I have the software. What if anything would I gain by reconnecting that KSTU2A jumper? (Could that accidentally damage our system?)

Any help would be appreciated; even a straight "Nope, you can't do that with what 'ya got."

Cheers,
-Michael ##

If I remember correctly the dk40i comes standard with eight digital ports 0 thru 7. I would try to plug in a dkt2010x or a dkt 2020x in one of the first eight ports. These stations will not support 4 wire electronic phones (3xxx,2xxx,6xxx,65xx). If that 40i has a electronic station expansion board in it you should be able to acess programing from any station port (*#*#1*2*3 to enter programing) Good luck.

Thanks, "nmiller"!

Unfortunately, all I have are the electronic extensions. With the extremely-light usage from (at most) 5 people remaining in our "temporary" facility, I can't justify further exploration. This was in the category of "nice to have" rather than "need to have". After this system becomes surplus (again!) and I scarf it up, maybe I can convince its next owner to let me experiment.

As I wrote in the Toshiba forum, the whole thing started with wanting to change one feature of one extension and my curiosity took over. None of this was a waste of time or effort, as I've learned from the process and found some really great folks on this very interesting forum!
