I am looking for a new phone system for an executive suite office center. The features on the Intertel seem great. I know that most of the larger players use the Nortel switch. Is there a clear advantage either way?

Not only the larger players, but the smaller ones use the Norstar system from Nortel. Hands down the finest telephone system ever produced. You will not be dissapointed!!!

In my opinion Inter-Tel is much better. Easier to use, easier to program (if you purchase the programming software also) a larger Voice Mail that will allow multiple Auto-Attandants.
By far a much better system.

RE:

The Inter-Tel Axxess does work very well in an Executive Suite environment. The VPU applications allow multiple auto attendants and calls can easily be labeled with company names.

ALSO - with the OAI/CTI interface, you can enhance the Executive Suite application. Here's a link to a company that developed a vertical application for Executive Suites, even back office operations.

GOOD LUCK!

is it possible???

In my opnion don't listen to any vendors until you have clearly defined your needs. Document the following:

Number of users
Number and type of inboud trunks
Are you going to offer vanila voicemail or unified messaging
Scalability
Compatible billing software
Availability and cost of expertise
and other stuff that only you would know

Once you have a good grip on your requirements, then you shop for what most closely fits your needs.

This will save you a ton of money and you will buy what you need not what someone sells you

RE:

In other words, spend the next 20 years in this business to learn what the techs here have learned, and then decide what system to buy and use.

Ask other business collegues whom they use for their systems, what kind of service they get, what kind of response time they get etc. I have found that word of mouth means alot more than money spent on advertising in as far as our business is concerned. One person satisfied with your service will tell 3 maybe 4 others, while someone not satisfied will tell all that he sees.

The Axxess system will suit the needs in an Executive office suite application (with the right CTI application) as long as you do not need tenant sharing (the ability to stop one office suite from calling the other suites- althought there is a cti app for that but the call will ring first before being dropped and that can be very annoying).
