Forward to Outside # from CRA

On our night announcement, we would like to add an option, "if this is a emergency, press x", which i would like to froward to an outside phone number. The only way i can thing to do this would to be take an unused extension, forward all calls to that to the outside number and then route x to that extension. Is their a better way of doing this?

This is the way that you would do this. Use a phantom ext, forward this to the outside number.

Sounds easy enough. I don't think I've ever created a phantom extension before. do i just use an existing physical port when programing but don't plug anything in?

Phantom Extensions are non-real extensions that do not use ports, the Axxess has them from version 8 or 9 and up, and I think all 5000's have them. In DBStudio/Session Manager go to System/Phantom Extensions and add a new one, then go into the extension and set a password on it (use same as extension number to reduce confusion). Now go to another phone and use remote programming like so (Assumes default feature codes and no Special key required): Dial 359 to access Remote Programming, the phone will prompt you for an extension, enter the the phantom extension number, then it will prompt you for the password. Now just do standard call forward all calls: 355+8+<outside number>. Now just point your DNIS digits in the Call Routing Table to the Phantom Extension you created.

If this is an Axxess older than version 8 you cannot use Phantom Extensions, you need to use a physical extension (with a phone connected if digital port), or an analog extension and then the same remote programming as above.

For more details, see this thread: http://www.pbxinfo.com/inter-tel/362...r-8-224-a.html

On older Axxess systems you can do the following.

Under System>Cabinets>DKSC16>
Change the type of a port from Keyset to Keyset/MDPM. (I think this will reset the digital station when you do this so make sure they are not on a call)
Assign an extension number to the Circuit 2.

You can then go into
System>Devices>Stations>
Go into OLM.
Select and Select Forward Information.

Set the Forward Destination Extension to the CO Trunk Group for calling out or ARS.
Set the Forward Outside Number to the external number you want calls to go.
Set Forward Type to 1.
Set Forward Public Network to YES.

Now, point your Digit Translation option to this extension.
Make sure you build an extension ID for this newly created extension and turn Auto Attendant Transfer Prompt off.

Hope this helps.

Nice!!! I forgot about the possibility of doing that since I usually use Phantoms or setup an extension in the back.

Thanks for the info.
