CALLER ID Info not Passing to Voice Processing Unit

I've inherited an intertel axxess system. It has about 15 analog trunk lines all of which have caller id, incoming call ID display on the endpoints fine, but if an incoming user leaves a message the voice processing unit always says the message was left by "UNKNOWN" any idea where the communication breakdown is?

I'm using DB Studio to program this Inter-tel 10.001 system. I don't even know where to start with this. Hope someone can help.

Just to make sure we're on the same page. Have you verified Caller ID on all 15 lines? Have you monitored or made a call all the way through, saw the Caller ID, left a message, and upon checking the message it wasn't there?

The two things to check in programming are to make sure you have

1. 'Advanced CO Interfaces' on your license which it sounds like you do.
2. Make sure the Service Type is set to Caller ID on each and every individual trunk.

Verify all of this and then we can go from there.

Okay, thanks for the replies so far:

1. I have verified all the trunks have CALLER ID enabled. Also, I've called in, seen my cell phone number come accross the display of my endpoint, left a message, only to have the message tell me "UNKNOWN" for the caller ID.
2. I believe the voicemail is the Axxessory Voice Processing Unit. It uses the avdapmon utility if this helps, runs on Win 2000 server.
3. Yes, I have the advanced option on my license.

Watch the AvdapMon utility in realtime and call in from your cell. You will see lines scrolling by but in there you should see your also see your cell number.

Is this system wide?

That last line
Code:
from (0:)
should contain the phone number of the caller. Next time I run into a VPU I'll mess around a bit.

I am assuming calls are answered when they come into the systemby a CRA? Before you try this make sure to document any settings so if needed you can change them back if this does not work. If so try this:

This is rare but reported on loop start Caller ID only. The voice processor application (CRA or AA) may answering the call too quickly (If it answers in the first ring cycle before Caller ID (CID) arrives, CID is not received.)

1. Adjust the 'Caller ID Ring Idle' timer shorter so it is ready to detect CID sooner.

2. Lengthen the 'LS/GS Trunk Ring Detection' timer (default 5/10) to 15/10 give or take a few tenths, typical ring voltage lasts 2 seconds (20/10) then 4 second no voltage and is when CID is sent, so we are forcing a delay in ring detection. Be careful here as you can make the system not detect ring at all intermittently if it is set too close to end of the ring signalling period.

3. If the timer adjustments do not help the situation, we suggest sending the ring in to a hunt group (no members required) and have the hunt group Recall Destination be the CRA after 2 - 6 seconds. Or, a 'Phantom' extension forwarded either system forward or manual forward on 'no answer' will accomplish the same thing. This will envoke enough delay in answering to allow the caller ID to be received.
