Just to recap. You recorded 6 seconds of nonsense to audiotex XXX, retrieved the real file system name zzz.r24, then renamed my file to match zzz.r24, right?
Yup, exactly 6 seconds. AVDAPMON showed the filename it created was e0.r24, there was also another file called e0.24, don't know if that is related or not, but we renamed the original e0.r24 file to e0.old.r24 (or something like that) then copied the ringback.r24 to the folder and renamed it e0.r24 and all we got was noise.

Will try this again later this week and let you know what happens.

Thanks again.

I did find the convert.exe tool that converts r24 files to WAV and back, tried it on your file and the audio was a clear ringback. Not wure what to try next, gonna play with it some and see what happens.

The convert.exe tool is attached if anyone is interested. It can be used to convert Inter-Tel VPU or AxxessoryTalk r24 audio files to WAV format and back.

It is command line based, just run the program and it will give you the command line format needed to run the program.

Well I finally got a chance to go back onsite and spent all day working on this one again.

I got the "ringback" greeting to work OK now. Not sure what happened before, but did it again and it worked fine, no noise, just a nice clean ringback.

The problem now is the VPU won't recognize the fax CNG tone, it just always routes it to the CRA's timeout destination. I have verified the fax board is installed correctly, swapped the two voiceboards around, reinstalled AVDAP several times, and spent 3 hours on the phone with tech support, and this time with someone who actually was helpful and didn't just tell me to "record fax tones" again. They are thinking we may have a bad Brooktrout fax board, but I still think it is a software issue. AVDAP monitor is not showing anything like "fax tone detection" and transferring the call the to fax board, so I don't think we are even getting to that stage yet.

Anyway, they fax board was new, so tech support is RMAing it and sending me a new one, we will see what happens.

I'm glad you got the ringback working! I only wish it solved all of you problems.

If AVDAP is setup correctly when a call hits the CRA you should see a line in AvdapMon reading "Fax Tone Detection Enabled". This should only display if you have the fax delivery email address programmed on that particular CRA. If it's not programmed the CRA will never listen for the fax and timeout.

Hope the MRA fixes it.

A few things, Does your summary.txt in the Avdap folder show you have fax ports? When you watch avdapmon does it show fax tone detection when the CRA answers the call. Either one of these could point to either software not loaded for the rhetorex board or no key on the back for the fax ports to be enabled. You do need to have a key on the machine to enable the fax ports.

Yes, the summary.txt file shows 2 fax ports and 12 voice ports. What we can nver get it to is show the "Fax Tone Detection Enabled" message in the avdap monitor no matter what we did.

This system does not have a hardware license key though, do you mean we need a special license as well? I am suprised that after several hours on the phone with tech support (over different days and with different techs) going over the Axxess system and the voicemail no one said anything. Can you confirm this for me?

Wish I had this information before, because the customer told us to pull the fax board and give up instead of sinking more money into labor hours to get this working... might have to bring this up again with them and see what they want to do.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the license key is only for Unified Messaging. You do not need a license key for inbound faxing. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

One way I've always had success with the 1 DID programming to work is

-Create a CRA that times out to a respective extension.
-In the Day and Night greetings I put in 7 seconds of silence.
(One of our customers did not like the silence so we put a greeting in "You're calls may be recorded or monitored for quality assurance purposes")
-Then of course put the proper email address in Fax Delivery Email Adress

Just my two cents. Your method is very creative socaljake. I might look into that in the future.
Hopefully the new Brooktrout fax board solves all of your woes acejavelin. It sounds like you've been extremely thorough in your troubleshooting. Good Luck!

Did anyone ever find a GUI equivalent? When I use this converter, all I get is noise. Am I missing an option somewhere?
