Lighting Message lamp

I have an Inter-tel 5000 connected(poor mans network via PRI) to a Nortel option 81 that has an Octel 250 Voicemail attached. I have voice mail on the 5000. I s there a way to light the message lamp on the Inter-tel from Octel using silent message, Phantom ext's, etc. If I create a mailbox on Octel that corresponds to the extension on the 5000 and call the Octel pilot number from my inter-tel phone, it sends me to the correct mailbox (because i have put the extension in caller party name and CLID is being retained) but i cannot figure out a way (poor mans or not) to make that message lamp light. Any suggestions?

If you can get an analog station off the Inter-tel into the Nortel as a POTS trunk you may be able to use the pager notification option in the Octel to dial the Nortel trunk grp with the Inter-tel analog station in it, then instead of dialing a pager number it dials the feature code to light the stations message lamp. If the Inter-tel has the Premium feature enabled for Analog Vmail hunt groups, and a hunt grp is made with the analog port in it, when the user goes off hook and presses the message lamp the analog station will rung and when answered it will send the extention number of the station. Make the trk grp on the Nortel containing the analog station ring to the Octel vmail pilot number. The pager string to use on the Octel to light the lamp should be feature code 367 (silent message), then the Inter-tel extension number (ie 367,xxxx). INter-tel phones silent message will be cancelled upon completion of call to the Inter-tel analog station that initiated the silent message. Not sure how you have your PRI configured between the two systems but you can also try this 1st by seeing if you can do it over the current PRI channels. I know the INter-tel analog port to the Nortel will work as I have done it before.
