Transfers go to VM after 1 ring

When transferring a call to another endpoint (unattended transfer) it rings on the destination endpoint for 1 ring and then goes to VM. What settings would be causing this?

We are using the Inter-Tel 5200 with digital 8560 & 8520 phones

Thanks

Typically it is system forwarding that is used to get calls to voicemail. Check out what your system forward initiate timer is set to, this can be found in session manager under system/timer and limits.

thanks for the reply. I should mention that we are using Unified Communicator also. If i call this person directly it rings normally - only on a transfer it goes to VM immediately. Would system forwarding still be the cause in that situation?

Unified communicator does over rule system forwarding. Try disabling the routing on uc to see if the phone behaves correctly. If not you can default the phone using a feature code to clear any forwarding the user might have accidentally enabled on the phone. If all is well with uc routing disabled then you might want to look over the uc rules again...

Normally we recommend turning off system forward when using UC. Build a UC rule to send the phone to voice mail.

how do you turn off system forwarding? Are there any other features that would not be available to us if we do that?

System forwarding can be turned of by feature code or in session manager under each station in flags.
