move VM from node 1 to node 2

I started working for a company that only had 1 node. Since i've come on, i've added a point to point and a second node at their new location.

They want all of the servers moved to the new location server room and the last to go was the inter-tel VM.

How difficult is it to move the Voicemail pc over to node 2?

Can i just start up another VM on node 2 (at the same time as running another VM on node 1) and decommission the node 1 VM slowly?

any help is appreciated.

The quick answer is no. The longer answer is maybe. The longest answer is yes, but it may not be worth your time. A lot of reprogramming will be necessary. There are a lot of variables. What model switches do you have at the two locations? Are you moving the switch and VM to the new location? Were you managing VM for both nodes at the original location?

No recommended at all, pointers in VM will get corrupted and your out of luck, Best is to have all users clear out messages default the DB and setup it correctly on the other node.

It is ugly... I did it once on a smaller system. I deleted all the mailboxes then set 'voice processor enable' to no. Moved the vm to the new location, booted it up on the new system, and recreated the mailboxes. Had some issues with extension conflicts and some db corruption. Don't know if this was the best way but it did work in the end...
