Enterprise Messaging

Is there an Enterprise Messaging client which is compatible with Office 2007 yet?

Inter-Tel's official stance is that UM OSE is what should be used for OL 2007/OL2003 sp3+. However the 2.36x UM client does work in OL 2007 but is not officially supported (tech support will advise using UM OSE).

If you have a fresh install of OL 2007 that you are installing the UM client software on you will get an incompatibility error. This is due to the client looking for a file that contains settings related to whether or not the OL is in corporate or workgroup mode. There is a file circulating that allows the install to take place, send me a PM and i will email you a copy.

Any verison of the old UM Client will work with that file on OLK 2007 and XP. Vista just will not work no matter what.

Quick note Inter-Tel has now EOL all client based UM packages. The only support moving forward will be for UM OSE and EM.

There is a new version of OSE, it is currently in beta, that has pretty much all of the functionality of the Legacy UM client plus a bunch of new stuff that you could never do with the old UM.

A few highlights, options to view all messages in a web based application, similar to exchange webmail, native support for mobile clients like blackberries and devices running windows mobile. Fully unified inbox with exchange or lotus notes mail servers with no client software install required. A new fax printer driver that allows printing to UM fax, as the old UM client did, this is the only client side software which is involved.

Keep your eyes open for its release!

Open Standards Edition, it uses an IMAP connection directly to an IMAPv4 compatible mail server to send messages and keep whatever folder in your message store up to date with what is in your voice mail box.

I would suggest contacting your sales person for more details and a possible demo.

are the audio files automatically forwarded to the email server, or can they stay on the EM server and be streamed down on demand similar to the UM client?
