Adding voicemail to Intertel Axxess system

Hi,

I have a Intertel Axxess system, and on that system I have one user without a voicemail box.

I've read through the Administrators guide, and it says to log into the Voicemail Administrators mailbox, and you can add the mailbox from there (via the 9 key). However, I can't seem to find that option.

I'm not even 100% sure that one of the mailboxes has been setup as an Administrator..

Is it possible to check and see what mailbox is the Administrator mailbox?

Thanks
David

If you have access to db programming you can find out which voicemail box has been setup for the administrator. Better yet if you have db programming you can create the new vm box there much easier.

Hi ITEnginner,

Unfortunately I don't have access to the DB, at least not now.. The system was in existence when we took over the bldg..

Is there any documentation online for how to access it (I think it's a cable into a modem, and then you can access the DB, but that's the limit of what I know)..

Thanks
David

Do you know what version the system is? What type of CPU does the system have, a cpu, a cpc or cps?

Hi David,

you can check to see if it is the admin mailbox as when you dial into it, it will say the hard drive is XX% full. If you dont get this I don think its an admin mailbox.
There is only one admin mailbox on the system but it is possible to have many admin phones, so you may only have an admin phone, try mailbox 4000. A lot of the time it this mailbox

But ITEngineer is correct you will really need access to DB programming if you are going to want you play with mailboxes

Hi all, on the phone system itself.. It proclaims CPU 128 and DB 5.119.. Attached to that is a PC, which is the voicemail if I understand correctly.. To administer the DB, would I be connecting to the PC? I know the last person here did it via a NULL modem cable..

Thanks for all thoughts. (Oh, I did find the voicemail administrators mailbox, but it appears you can't add voicemail from there. Only admin existing ones).

Thanks
David

Indeed for that CPU you would either need to dial in via a modem if attached to the CPU or use a null modem cable and an adapter that Inter-Tel provides I think the part number is 828.2420, and connect to one of the serial ports on the CPU. I can verify the part number if needed. It is the same adapter that is used to connect the voice mail computer. You will also need the 5.119 Database programming software.

I did!! Just today I got a hold of the software, and the cords.. And I added in the missing voice mail

I do have a follow up question.

When we put the phones in night mode.. You get a prompt for the directory, the chance to enter an extension, or to hold for the general mailbox.

If you hold for the general mailbox, the line just cuts off and hangs up... Any suggestions as to where I might begin looking?

Thanks
David
