| Junior Member | Phantom Devices & Inter-Tel v9.115 I am the lucky recipient of the DB programmer baton, and therefore have the keys to unlock all things magical in our phone sys. That said, I have limited knowledge with the programming other than basic v/m setups, a few audio call routing announcements, fwding paths, etc. I made a huge break-through last month when successfully getting our day/night shift phone-sharing people to have voicemails to access on the same phone. Now, we have upgraded from 8.23 to 9.115. Enter Phantom Devices. Just what exactly is their purpose? What should I do with them? What are they NOT intended for? SOS is appreciated! |

| Moderator  | Phantom The primary purpose of a phantom is for the “traveling salesperson” that needs a voice mailbox and the ability to forward their station to their current location (i.e., cell phone, pager or home). The phantom does not require a physical keyset since the user is typically not in the office. In Axxess 8.2XX and prior, phantoms could be created by using an off-line station (i.e., create a station card and equip a station). The phantoms existed by the simple act of configuring the database. The physical connection for station card(s) and station(s) do not need to exist. The disadvantage of this configuration is that phantoms count against the total device count and a hardware slot is burnt up. This new implementation for phantoms offers a way for end-users to create virtual stations that do not take up a physical hardware address or count against the system’sdevice count. Phantoms contain a subset of station information such as extension, username, PC description, toll restriction/class of service, account codes, DND information, forwarding and system speed dials. Although phantoms do not come on-line, phantoms can perform a subset of keyset functionality: go into DND, forward to IC/CO destinations, offer and deflect calls and remote programming. Quote:
