Hi,
I see that the Axxess lists an IP interface and a SIP interface under "Physical" I also see that it lists MGCP under "Connection Protocols"

So clear this up for me, how is SIP a Physical interface on the PBX?

Also, if 2 Axxess systems will be connected via an IP point to point, can I do this by terminating the PtoP on my Cisco Routers then handing the PBX a FastEthernet connection?

Lastly, what kind of QoS does the Inter-Tel honor and tag? Is it just layer 2 CoS or will it do L3 DSCP? If so, can I manipulate the settings or is it hard-coded to certain tags?

I know that's a lot and we are meeting with the vendor tomorrow, but I thought I would ask you guys first. Thanks

1. SIP would be connected via a SIP server to the IPRC Card in the Axxess.

2. Yes, the Axxess would only provide you a 10/100 ethernet connect.

3. The Axxess can be programmed for RTP TOS as well as QOS being provided by the router. You would define the TOS in the IPRC settings. Inter-Tel recommends TOS 184, expedited forwarding if used for Diffserv.

How many stations do you have? Maybe the Inter-Tel 7000

is the platform you should be looking at instead of the Axxess....

It is 3 sites, 3 shelves (if that's what inter-tel calls them) with networking. About 100 users per site plus 10 Call Agents.

The Axxess are pre-existing, one needs a software upgrade, so I doubt they will move to a new system. If they did we would bring the 3 sites onto our Cisco IP Tel that runs our other 45 sites. These guys were just a bit cheap and didn't want to buy in (phones and configuration hours)

So does it allow QoS for the Call Setup as well as the RTP?

Also, can you tell me more about the IPRC card, what does that stand for? Is that where the Ethernet jack is located? Is there a web interface for programming this stuff or is it run through the Axxess console interface (that I assume is the main admin interface)?

Yes, QOS would be for call setup and RTP. The IPRC uses TOS which is dependent on the LAN and WAN to understand the TOS Bit. There is an ethernet port on Ver 8.0 and above CPC (Call Processing Card) which is used for programming. There is a web interface to the CPC card that also shows some stats, version numbers etc.

The IPRC or Internet Protocal Resource Card is where the ethernet jack resides for the IP Networking or IP Stations, both can be supported on the same card.

There is not per say a web interface for programming but an application that Inter-Tel calls DB Studio, it is Windows Explorer like. There is a web interface to the IPRC card that shows many statistics. Depending on your version (8.0 and above) DB Studio would connect via an ethernet connection.
