I was just about to post this question as well. Inter-tel has told me that my 5000 will automatically adjust with the new DST settings. However, they say the Enterprise Messaging server will not adjust, and have advised me against installing any windows updates or patches that would fix this. Has anyone tested tzedit (available from microsoft) to modify the DST / timezone information on the voicemail server? To have to manually update it twice a year seems silly, but thats the only answer Inter-tel will give me. The Inter-tel tech mentioned he had heard of tzedit but had not tried it and I could try at my own risk.

You may be right, or wrong. The 5000 Ver 1.2 Release 5, All 2.0 and 2.1 will handle the new DST fine. Here is Inter-Tel's answer for EM & VPU. We advise customers to install all windows updates normally so I am not sure who or why you were given the advice you were. The fix for EM and VPU is to run TZEDIT.

Microsoft has elected to not provide an automatic update for Windows NT or Windows 2000. Instead, they provide a utility call tzedit for updating the time zone information. See Updating Time Zone Information for Windows NT and Windows 2000 using TZEDIT.
Microsoft has provided a utility called TZEDIT for manually updating the definitions of time zones including Daylight Saving Time settings. For Windows NT and Windows 2000, this must be run manually. This is a one-time activity that will adjust for this change going forward. This is a simple graphical user interface that allows an administrator to make the necessary adjustments

The tzedit utility, along with instructions, can be obtained directly from Microsoft’s web site using the following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/timezone/dst2007.mspx

For VPU
  • There is a minor issue in which the “today” and “yesterday” computations in the voice messages that may play incorrectly for messages left within an hour of midnight.

8.1 Does not change adjust for DST you have to change the time manually. Ver 8.2 and above adjusts for DST. 8.235 and above will adjust for the new DST. The axxess does not use NTP, but the 5000 does. Depending on your voice mail you may still need to apply the TZEDIT patch from Microsoft.
