Message Error M6050

I am getting numerous errors on my Axxess 9.002 system like this:-01:747- 09:59 10-26 M6050 WRN EG OS OS Request (OPEN): Unexpected Status (Port In Use) They occur numerous times per hour. I know it says something about the OS and CP software in manual, but that does not really mean much to me. The system is no longer under warranty, so calling Inter-tel is not an option. Please let me know what this means.

Thank You

Error 6050

This error is due to the csta wait to reopen timer that was changed in ver 8.x and above. This is normally not anything to be concerned about and the next time you have your service company on site have them look up answer ID 1782 on Inter-Tel Tech central and follow the procedure to fix this. This is not a procedure that should be done by an un-certified service person. Here are a few things that you can do to help.

Notes:
  1. Make sure that SMDR and MSG print are not being sent out the same RS-232 port that the VM is attached to.
  2. Check the Output Port and Local Backup Port information for SMDR and Message Print under the Maintenance folder and confirmed that a serial port extension is programmed and these field are not blank. If these field are blank and the output is enabled the system will generate the 6050 alarm because there is no serial port assigned. By default the Output Port and Local Backup Port are set to PP100. The PP100 is the first serial port extension on the CPU by default. See information in the chart below for the default extension numbers for the serial ports.
  3. Make sure OAI is not being sent to open serial port

** This serial port is not provided on the CPC CPU. PP102 is provided on the older Embedded CPU's (CPU 112, 64, 64S, 128, 128S, 256 and 512). The 3rd serial port is also provided on the EAC CPU for the NON ATM CPS and on the PCMA for the ATM systems.
*** Depending on the type of the CPU the additional Serial ports added to the system using an OPC or Keysets will start with PP102 or PP103. As serial ports are added the Extension number will continue the logical pattern of PP1XX.
All the serial port information can be easily viewed under the serial port folders.
