Axxess 9.006 - Phantom Devices and Cell Phones

I am trying to figure out how to set up a phantom device in Axxess 9.006 that will allow me to have a cell phone ring when you dial that phantom device's number.

I want to be able to dial extension 1001 and have that ring a cell phone (216-555-1234). Can anyone help me with this? Is this actually possible?

Yes this is very possible. Let's see if I can be quick because I have to go to sleep. Take a phone in your office and forward all calls to an outside number. Test and make sure it works first. Log into DB programming and created your phantom devices, make sure to give them a vmail box or extension ID. At the top of DB studio pick the view button and scroll down to on line monitor.....ignore the warning and continue. You will now be in a grayed out engineering databae programming. Be very carfull what you change in here, you can crash your system if you like to play around to much. Now go to the station that you first forward the test call from open up and go to forwarding information or something like that, its a field you would have never seen before. You will see your number you programmed your phone to forward to and some other information. copy down and program in your phantom extensions with the different cell phone numbers of each user. Make sure to give the phantom devices outgoing access and save a copy of the database before you make any changes. I came up with this hack many years ago with a different situation. Test and works!!!! Good Luck.

Very Interesting

I really like that hack!

Just one question? How do you create a phantom device, I didn't find that in the AXXESS manual either.

DB sets up devices when you install the cards in the cabinet. So how do you create a device without sacrificing a physical extension???

I used this hack because the original question said "9.006 and phantom stations" Inter-tel added the phantom devices as a new feature in the first release of 9.000. Finally you could add phantom extensions with out having to burn a card slot with fake extensions so you could do off site fwding, etc. Unfortunatly if you are 8.232 and below you will have to sacrafice a card slot to program "phantom type extentions" The new Inter-Tel 5000 series also has the "phantom stations" built into it's software. Hope that answers you question.....

I'm new to Inter-Tel, this info. helped a lot. 8 years working with command line on Nortel makes this Inter-Tel even sweeter!

easiest way is set up phantom ext. set password to # and then use feature code 359 on any phone, Enter the ext number, then press # for the pw, then enter 355, press outgoing, enter the cell phone number. lift handset and hangup. should read all calls forward to (number) then the display will disappear. this way you are not in the Online Monitor mode and accidentally change something. make sure you make either ext id in vm or give it a mailbox ext. hope this helps
