Intertel System Hotel Manager or Inside Track

Does anyone know where I can find a used copy of System Hotel Manager 828.1542 or Inside Track? These seem to be quite rare??? Does anyone know why it is so hard to find any copies of this software? I understand that it is run on separate computers with hardware keys, but it should do a remarkable job monitoring SMDR output and reduce my need to access DB programming when hotel rooms turn over. Axxess is very cumbersome with hotel rooms simply due to the difficulty in changing station programming. Any suggestions to reduce my struggles with SMDR output, even if you don't know how I can find the Intertel solutions???

Last thing you want to use is Inside Track. Very poor SMDR managment tool. There are some great products out there that can either pull and run reports from your SMDR output or your System OAI. Hotel manager I have not used before but I know that it is also discontinued. I might be able to answer your question better if you tell me what you are lacking or missing with the Inter-Tel product. What version software are you running and what is your current hardware configuration? Do you want simple usage reports, real time w/ reports, web based, etc...

DB 5.2f9

My main issue is that I cannot match guests to their calls. I can use a serial printer for a hard copy of raw data, but that is cumbersome and impractical. I got this system from a hotel that closed up, but they lost the hardware key for the hotel manager software. I have software and a computer, but no key.
The OAI access would be nice so that I can reset voicemail and change endpoint programming based on whether a room is occupied or vacant. Example, the phone would only be good for intercom calls while the room is vacant, but available for toll calls when a guest is checked in with a credit card on file.
My ideal solution would be to find a used copy of some SMDR or OAI mgmt software. I have looked at some of the advertised stuff, but it is way too pricey for me to invest into such an old phone system.
Your help is greatly appreciated!

Ok....What you asking is simple to accomplish with out costing a dime. But you are right there is software that can automate and trake the process easier but let's go with the no cost solution....my favorite!!!

First of all take that printer down to your local rifle range and drop a few rounds into it for good messure. Getting your SMDR to a serial printer brings back memories of the first IBM clone with the 5.35 drives. Since you are running software rev. 5.2f9 you either have a CPU 64, 128, 256 or 512. Any one of these CPU's have (3) RS232 serial ports, one is used for your voice mail connection and the other ones for DB Programming, call accounting, modem, etc. You will have to have a copy of the DB Programming 5.2f9 and a Axxess DB9 serial connector to hook into your com port on your computer. In DB Prog. set SMDR to stream out your serial port port that is not being used. Hook another cat. 5 cable to another DB9 connector to a serial port on the back of your computer. In Windows open Hyperterminal and pick the com port you want to connect to. Set Baud Rate to 9600, and keep the rest of the settings default. You sould now see SMDR spooling through Hyperterminal. At the top menu pick transfer and then capture text to file. Chose a file location and name and hit start. Now you will have a file that SMDR is buffering to. Save the file every so often so it doesn't get to big. This is a better way to save and view your smdr data. Now you can go a step further and so a search for a Free or Shareware Call accounting program. There are many sites out there that have these free versions.

Second if you have a copy of DB programming you can go into the system programming and either remove or add class of service when every some one checks in, or remove or add that station from going access. You could also give each extension a forced account code (room#) that they would have to dial first for outgoing access. The account code would show up in your smdr report. In a call accounting progam you could run reports on account codes.

Benifits of a call accounting system is that you can add your toll costs so your reports will print out total $$$ owed for each guest. Any more questions or wher you can get the software please PM me.

In the DB software, how does one configure the system to transmit the access codes to the SMDR? I've been looking for the option, but I can't find it. BTW, We are currently configured for our carrier to require accounting codes for LD calls and I only want to use access codes for long-distance calls. Can we also additionally, automatically send an accounting code to the PBX and our carrier?

I Think I'm starting to understand this. The DB has several options for accounting codes and they are in each station's folder. Is there a way to update these en masse? I could kill the code requirement from our carrier and just have them on the PBX.

One thing to be careful of is that the account codes are not tied to a specific phone. You setup a station to use an account code but it can use any account code that is setup on the system. And yes you can create the account codes in mass.
