On Hold Plus is probably the most widely known MOH manufacturer on the market:

http://www.onholdplus.com/

Premier is another one

http://www.premtech.com/

Sirius/XM radio offers business services:

You could use a standard radio, cassette, CD or MP3 player, but if caught playing anything other than royalty-free music, fines would be levied.

Like dexman recommends, we use the Premier USB 1200 model (http://www.premtech.com/usb1200.html) quite a bit on systems that do not have embedded file-based MOH, works very well, never really had any problems and works with every system we have tried. I haven't used the On Hold Plus Intellitouch models (http://www.onholdplus.com/products/OHP-8000-%252d-USB-Flash-Drive-Digital-On%252dHold-Player-for-PBX-and-Key-Phone-Systems.html), but have seen quite a few and they seem very reliable.

Of course, a cheap MP3 player with proper cord and AC adapter loaded with instrumental music or other royalty free music that is easily accessable on the Internet will work as well too on most systems.

Super quick, cheap, and simple MOH options:

1) take an old PC and connect sound card to MOH port, play MP3's continuously or stream music to it
2) grab old radio and connect, play prairie public radio (usually never an issue and mostly instrumental in most areas)
3) grab any old cd-radio/boombox/cdplayer and get a cd of instrumental music

Most of these can be done with stuff laying around just about any office or something from the garage/storage closet at home with less than $10 investment.

Not the best answers but can work in the short term
