Hi,

since I am a Linux/UNIX guru (wannabe?) and since Siemens are running Unixware as their OS, I decided to take an inside look at their software. The idea was to make an image of their HDD on another HDD and then to put it on my PC and load it.

So far I have met the following obstacles:

1. the power supply for the SCSI HDD is a bit different. The yellow wire brings +5V and the red: 12V. Usually (check every single PC) it is the opposite. But anyhow, this obstacle was removed.

2. I attached the SCSI HDD of Hicom to another PC and tried to boot. The HDD was not recognized and what was very strange - I did not hear the sounds of cylinders. The HDD was silent.

3. I moved the HDD back into the Hicom - everything is perfect, I can hear the noise of the HDD.
Then I removed the SCSI interface cable and left only the power supply. Booted the Hicom and guess folks - there was no noise of the HDD.

Does someone have more experience with this to give some suggestions ?
