Siemens Hicom 300 h - wrong DST

Hi All,

As the IT guy at the company I work for, I am pretty much responsible from booting servers to flushing toilets. All of which I handle with aplomb.

But the only thing that gives me the willies is the telephone switch here. For the most part anything I can do via the LC-Win program is a piece of cake.

But unfortunately the only documentation I have is someone's training book and I guess they slept through most of the class as there are very little useful notes in the book. There is no documentation, there is no purchased support (don't get me started here). And no information at all on solving what I think should be a simple issue...and that is setting the correct time on the phone system.

I've read through the other posts...and I'm not even sure how to ID the first or second phone on the system. The *95 command I see listed don't seem to work on the phones I think should be the first or second phones. I cannot telnet into the switch and if I do, I get only one choice to change the password.

I figure I can wait until the original DST time change occurs, but for my edification (and assuming my boss lets me stay another year) I'll need to change the time again.

What I am looking for is information on what I need to look for to change the time on the switch; either a good book, a website or such. I'm sure that whatever information i'll need to get into the switch will have long been lost, but if I know what I need to ask for, perhaps I can check with some oldtimers here.

Any help or advice anyone can offer would be great!

Thanks ahead of time.

Go to the LC Win menu Special/Direct AMO Dialog.

Type

<cha-date:
YEAR = 2008
MONTH = 3
DAY = 20
HOUR = 8
MINUTE = 50;

Then do follow commands and forget about DST for next 7years.

Thanks for the quick response.
Unfortunatley that menu choice is greyed out on my LC Win (ver 4.0.042).

Thanks Rolm,

Sorry I haven't responded sooner...i've been trying to track down where I can get/find the procom plus software.

In the event that I cannot, is there any other terminal software i can use instead?

You may use a Hyper Terminal from MS Windows.

Start/All Programs/Accessories/Communications/Hyper Termial.

Hey, thanks for the response.

I've got a brain buster here...I've tried the LCWin, and Can't get to the direct AMO dialog box.

I've tried DOS Telnet and the switch just allows me to change the password for my user ID. Same result with Hyperterminal. I've even used the http access and that also only allows me to change the password and no other options.

Yes, I've changed the password to see if that was the issue, still only provides me an option to change the password and nothing else.

At first I thought maybe it was the wrong version of LCWIn, but then if I cannot access any functions with Telnet or Http then I know that can't be the problem.

I talked with the previous IT Admin and he cannot recommend any more than what I've tried above.

I know there must be something simple that must be done...LC works like a champ to manage the devices on the switch...but all my users keep complaining about the time on the display phones and how I've still not fixed it yet (those ungrateful so and so's... ).

Any idea, farfetched or not is welcome...

Thanks

If you are on site,

Direct connecting the PC serial port cable to the Hicom: Use straight-through EIA-232-E cable with optional 9-to-25 pin adapter.

a) Connect the maintenance terminal to the RMX port as follows:

1. Locate the RMX port and connect the maintenance terminal as follows:
Models 30 and 80—port 1 of the first LBU
Model 30E—port 1 of the DM80E
Models 30EX, 80EP, and 80EX—port 1 of the DM3L
Model 30EP—port 1 of the DSC
2. Configure the maintenance terminal to TVI 910 terminal emulation and the following communication parameters:

Field Value

Speed 4800
Bits 7
Parity Even
Stop Bits 1

b) After the ############################# banner appears, press Ctrl+T and wait for the < AMO prompt before continuing.

Cool

Eureka!

Success!

And I owe alot of it all to the help of this forum and a little from RTFM.

I found an ID/PW combination that allowed me to access the Direct AMO Dialog area through Telnet (via Putty) and was able to correct the time on the switch, which in turn made everyone's display phone happy.

I was gonna give up, after all a busted clock is right twice a day. But then the display phones were off by 1 hour and 7 minutes...and that was it...I'd had enough. So I read a technician manual for my switch and the rest is history.

Thanks!
