Hipath 3550 Install - Manual Required

Hi,

We have an almost new Hipath 3550 system left over from an old company, we would like to replace our aging (and broken) Toshiba system with it.

Infrastucture is in place and I have familiarity with other PBX systems, Nitsuko mostly, what I need is an engineers service/admin manual necessary to complete the task; I'm also assuming there is remote programming software using RS232 or similar.

Thanks, Jon.

Hi Jon.

The Hipath Service Manual isn't really going to help you. Firstly the system will be in German out of the box and you need to initialise this into UK working.

Then you will need a copy of Manager E programming Tool ad the correct programming lead before you can even think about programming the system.

My best advice would be to do the physical installation of the system yourself - i.e get it on the wall, preset all of your local wiring into a Box Connection and have al your phones to hand. The pay for an engineer to come out jumper the extensions over and program the system to your requirements.

Then you could get the engineer to show you the basics, get a copy of Manager E from him and lok after the system yourself in the future.

Your not going to need an engineer for longer than a day and I doubt you'd bee looking at more than £400 for a days labour on site.

Definately the best option in my opinion.

Regards

Hi,

Thanks for the advice badger.

The system is used so is presumably configured for the previous workplace it was installed at with UK settings.

Getting an engineer is too easy I wouldn't mind learning how to install a 3550. Failing that your're quite right, I will have to hire an engineer.

Thanks
Jon

Also find out who your local Siemens dealer is and get them to quote for said job. The engineer will come and do a site survey and maybe a mutual agreement could be discussed, you never know. Costings above are about right, you could look at getting maintenance cover as well, better being safe than sorry.

Regards
