HiPath EVM (voicemail) sound quality

so we have our 3550 and a new v6 board with the built in EVM, which seems to work well with one major problem - the sound quality of the recorded messages is really bad.

Our Optisets are pretty old but I havent noticed any real problems with the sound quality for calls.

Has anyone had problems with EVM quality or is this just a matter of recording and playback through an old handset?

thx , Bill

EVM greetings

There is a setting in the EVM setup that allows you to change to Hi Quality messages and greeting. The default is Memory optimized greeting and messages.

setting greetings and messages to HiQuality has helped alot, still not great tho

I've just realised I can transfer audio files to the HiPath using Manager - so I'm going to record our main overnight message and auto-attendant stuff using a decent mic and a Powerbook and transfer them over - should sound pretty good

Im glad you have sorted things out but prefer better quality, have you tried accessing via an analogue telephone to do your recordings?

Tell us how you got on with your audio transfer, I used to do it with Active Voice Repartee and Austin Powers vmail was a great hit....lol

Regards

ok from Manager E manual section 8.19.29.2 Area: Greetings:

Load

A previously saved greeting or a Wave file can be selected by clicking Load. The Wave file to be loaded must have the following format:

PCM, 16 Bit, 8khz, mono

The selected Wave file is converted on loading. Depending on the size of the Wave file, this may take some time. You can select the audio quality via the CODEC setting subdialog. The available options are: memory-optimized or HiQuality.

After the loading has been completed, the modified data is transferred to the EVM on clicking the Write: PC->EVM button.
still havent had time to try it yet
