Want to do E&M tie to non-Ericsson PBX

We want to connect our Ericsson BP-250 to a non-Ericsson PBX.
The intent is to use E&M (over IP) between the offices using our site-to-site VPN.

On the non-Ericsson side we cannot use the IP card that supports E&M because it is "proprietary" E&M over IP. So we are using a T1 card (that supports E&M) and connecting that to a Cisco router to use IP over our VPN. So far so good.

On the Ericsson PB-250, does the IPU card support a non-proprietary E&M over IP, or will we/can we do the same thing as with the other non-Ericsson PBX and use a T1 card that supports E&M type 2?

Thanks,
DP

Hi dmandell,

If you are using a router, it may not work, cause there is some packets being used by ericsson that is not forwarded through the router. IPU only runs if you use a public IP or direct connection to a existing network(in other words, WAN). Can you draw the a diagram so that I could fully understand your current setup and what you are planning to setup.

Regards,
Sepay

I guess I am not asking the right question.
I am familiar with other PBXs but not Ericsson.
Two questions.
1. Is there an IP (Ethernet) interface card that can be used in an Ericsson PB-250 that will allow me to do E&M type 2? (over IP)

2. If not, does the T1 interface card support E&M type 2?

Thanks,
DP

Hi Dmandell,

It does support T1 supports E&M type 2. Better do some test first, cause sometimes other systems would not allow other brands to communicate with the other. In other words "proprietary".

Regards,
Ven
