Help with figuring out what I have - Electra Elite IPK

I just started a job at a new company, and they recently spent a lot of money upgrading their phone system with our local vendor (the only NEC vendor remotely close as we are in the boonies). The guy that comes onsite to asisst with issues on the new system keeps making offers to buy the old Electra Elite IPK for $50 and he seems real shady about it. He keeps insisting that it isn't worth anything really, and that he is giving us a good deal. My understanding is that it still works. I can power it up and all the lights flash (don't laugh), but I don't know how to get access to it.
I know that they sell used equipment and I'm afraid he is just trying to rip us off. I'd like to know what I have so I can determine what a reasonable asking price is for the equipment. It wouldn't hurt to finally know if this guy is full of it either.
Here are the part numbers listed on the cards in the system (and the slot they are in) from left to right.
CPUII(100)-U10ETU - CPU/EXP
ESIE(8 )-U20UNIT - S1 - There isn't supposed to be a space between the 8 and the ) but it kept turning it into a smiley with sunglasses.
SLIB(4)-U10ETU LOT-172G - S3
DTI()-U40ETU - S4
VMP(X)-U40ETU - S8 - Also contains EliteMail LX CF card.
Also, there is some documentation and a CD (PCPro software) that was sitting with the system; however, it comes up with a username and password prompt. The tech says that he doesn't remember the password, and they deleted it our of their records when they retired this system. Not sure if there is another way to login and get additional info.

Any help is much appreciated!

an estimated value would be from 5-7k for that system. the voice mail alone is usually around 2k

Thanks for the info and the PM. That really tweaks me off. 50 bucks?!

And I need a serial connection to connect? Will a USB to serial convertor plus null modem connection? Also, which card should I be connecting to login? Sorry for all the questions, but we're also staring at a quote (an expensive quote) for a remote office and I'd like to see if this device is functioning well enough to be used.

if you have a CPU II then what you actually have is an IPK II reffered to as an IPK 2. you can connect to the system via a crossover ethernet cable connected to the CPUII. you will also need a copy of pcpro software. the system isnt that old and should operate well once you get it up and running.

The un and pw you sent did let me log into the software. Thanks for that. Yesterday I tried connecting via serial connection on a couple of the cards, but I either didn't have the com port settings right or it needs an additional username and password. I'm guessing this is the password that they say they don't have. Is there a username and password for the xover connection? If so, is there a default that can be used or a way to reset. Also, I noticed in the connection screen that there is a default 172.x.x.x address listed in the PC Pro software. Is this the correct default ip for the device? Do I need to use a specific IP or will any on that subnet work?

the un and pw u need for the system is in the PM i sent. this is the same one you use for the xover connection. if there is a default ip with 172 then it is probably the correct address. all you need to do is change your ip on your computer to an address that matched the first 3 octets then use a different one for the last octet. i usually use 100 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 the DTI card is setup through PC pro not the serial port. the VMP card should also have a ethernet port you can connect through. there is also access to the VM through the serial port on the VMP card. when connecting to the vm the time on the vm must match the time on your PC or it will not connect. i dont have alot of experience on the lx version of vm but can usually muddle my way through. hope this helps!

Okay perfect. That got me in. You've been a huge help. I went back to our NEC vendor and explained to them what's been relayed to me in this post. They've said they're willing to give us a $2500 credit towards a new system at our remote office, but we're also getting some pricing from online vendors to buy this system. Regardless of who it ends up with, should I run a First Initialization to clear all existing info relating to our company?

i would. the easiest way to do this would be to boot the system, connect with PCPRO and upload a blank database.
