911 and voip

I am concerned about a 911 issue. The setup is an IPK at the main location, with an IAD card and four offsite locations with ITH phones. Is there anyway to resolve 911 calls without an IP Branch/Gateway setup?

If extra equipment is needed, can it be done without sacrificing the ITH phones.

I thought about using CESID and sending ext/location reports to the PSAP offices, but I think CESID only works with E911 (requiring a CAMA trunk).

Is there any sort of IP to Analog adapter I could use to backroute a call to the location that made the call? I could get a Viking adapter (or similar) to convert FXO/FXS to a local trunk.

As far as I know the Branch/Gateway is the only way to do it because the branch unit has a PSTN port on it. If you have a PRI at the main site you can try to make the outbound caller ID thier local phone number but some carriers are starting to not allow the changing of the outbound number so it may not work forever.

NEC makes an adapter that plugs into the phone that gives a IP phone access to a local POTS line.

The issue is it is not very user friendly.

You have to run a second line cord to the adapter, then to use the POTS line you have to push a button on the adapter and relocate the handset from the telephone to the adapter.

Not functional at all.

Are you speaking of the APR adapter? Or the one for Inaset. Didn't know those adapters worked on the ip phones. sweet.
