Site Redesign in the Works

Does anyone know if the TN775B Maintenance Board is hot-swapable? It's in the maintenance slot of a G3rV8 EPN.

Question hot-swapable

Hey windnsea,

Could you please spread some light on "hot-swapable" concept

I've never heard it actually.

Hot Swappable is where you can remove a component and replace it with another while the system is up and running (aka...hot).

It doesn't really apply to anything in the phone system unless it's duplicated. Control packs and such are usually the only ones that are. Everything else will interrupt service at some level.

Just a comment here. Just because some cards may be duplicated, the off line cards should never be pulled out hot. When swapping out control cards, the cabinet (or carrier) should be turned off.

The cards in the numbered slots can, for the most part, be pulled out hot and the only impact is whatever service is using that card, i.e. stations, trunks, aux trunks, etc.

Some cards in numbered slots should never be pulled out hot, two examples would be Definity Audix and MapD.

Opps... I know that too. You'd think I'd have remembered to say it!

Perhaps the best way is to state.... ALWAYS follow the documented procedures for replacing hardware!

In a G3r the disk drive and removable media cards can be pulled out hot but you must follow a specific procedure for this.
