Is there a way for a user to program abrv dial numbers (speed dial) in their phones? I have 74xx, 84xx, and 64xx phones. I know it can be done on the 64xx by putting an abrv-prog button and then a bunch of abrv-dial buttons on the phone. Having trouble with the 74xx.

Of course I can program them for the user, but you have to understand that they know I have nothing better to do than to try and call the numbers in their abrv list and hope I get lucky by connecting directly to the Free Hooker Hotline or Here Is Your Access To A Million Dollars Just For Calling. Whew! Isn't it enough that I have all the phones bugged and monitor every single phone call?

Email Message Notfication (w/ Caller ID) for G3R w/Intuity

well I know it can be done on 84xx and 64xx but I've no idea about the dinosaurs. When we were still overloaded with those archaic monoliths, I refused to program anything on them at all. While I weeded them out one by one, I left those phones exactly like I found them. Then when anything, and I mean ANYTHING, went wrong with them (i.e. handset, handset cord, base cord, stuck button, a scratch) I told the user we didn't support them anymore and they would require a new phone. Evil I know but I hated dealing with two different types of punch downs with all the moving these idio.. I mean wonderful people do on a continual basis. They are equivalant to FP days.

Believe it or not, I still have some 7406+ and 7410+ phones running in my building. These things don't die. We use abbreviated dialing here a lot. I can help you with any of the models mentioned but you seemed to need the 74xx series for now.

First, program the button in the switch for the station. Button would be named:

abrv-dial List:3 DC:01
Be sure to have the station set up as: 1)system 2)group 3)personal

Once the button is programmed for abbreviated dial, the user will follow to program the number themselves:
Lift handset
Press *0
Press the AD button
Enter the phone number (ie 9-1-xxx-xxx-xxxx)
Press # to end programming.

I hated programming these phones as well. I am changing them out as they go down. I have 9 yet in the building. They were worth their money in longevity but worth 2 cents for programming difficulty.

If you need further help, let me know.

Rhonda,
Iit works! I appeciate your contribution to the discussion, ... unlike that dreadfull puffed up man who calls himself, Screech, with his talk of "dinosaurs" and "archaic monoliths". Screech, if that is your real name, I fart in your general direction. Troy Aikman starter kit! You should be thankful that I rescued you from the miry clay that you were in whe I found you, and set you straight young man! ....

Sorry that you had to hear all that Rhonda.

Yes, the 74xx can be a real pain in the, uh, well, you know. I still have about 150 of them here. They do work. And they can be bought very cheap. Still, as much as it pains me, I have to agree with Screech. "What's that, you spilled coffee on you phone? Try this new 8410D out, I think you like it much better."

Troy Aikman star.... Why I oughta! Do I look puffed up?

Hey, even when you rescued me from the clay, we had better phones than those ancient 74XXs. I LOVED the Mitel phones. And when we DID purchase our G3R, I noticed that YOU skipped those horrid things altogether. I was spoiled from the beginning. I blame YOU for that. We started with all 8410s. I didn't learn a thing about dino the phone until I started HERE 5 years ago. It took my first 3 years to kill them all. We hate what we do not understand. They are now utterly extinct in my building.

Phew! who farted? RICHARD!!!!!!!!
