I bought some 6416D+Ms. The headset ports don't work as they should. I'm getting the supplier to replace them. Seems like I had heard that some of these phones are made for the European market and are not totally compatible with our switches here in America. Since these units were made in France, could there be a connection?

Additional info: A headset (I use Plantronics with an HIC-1 cord) will work if you plug in the handset port.I think this is true of all 64xx and 84xx phones. Programming a headset button sorta works in that you don't have to lift the handset off hook, but then the handset does not

Yes, yes, I think it was you.

I talked to the vendor yesterday and they think it has something to do with the software version of our switch. I'm not so sure, ... maybe, I'll let it slide and see what comes of it. They are sending me more phones. Will advice when the drama is complete.

We repair those phones and we have see certain phones that have a different I/C chip than the usual ones. When the chip is replaced with the usual one, the phones work fine. We suspect, but are not yet certain, that the suspect phones were made for the Canadian or European markets. There was a "C" in the part code that was not on the other phones. Please post here if you find out any more info on this.

I received two more phones this morning from the vendor. These phones work. Gloryosky!
Not made in France. Made in Mexico (our little buddies to ther south who appearantly have a picture of George W Bush in a compromising position with a donkey)). The model numbers on the bottom of the phones is 6416D02C(90) - 323.
So, the vendors line about the PBX version having something to do with it, ... I'm still not buying that.

I'm still willing to bet, if you tell your vendor (RICK will honor it) that you ONLY want phones made in America that SAY made in America on them, you won't have that problem anymore
