When performing our weekly phone backups, the G3 gives me the error message
"SPE-A Tape access failure; no tape cartridge or device failure" and gives
the Error Code -- 2.

I tried the same command "save trans" with another tape in the drive and it
gives me the same error message.

1. What kind of backup media are you using? Is it literally tape?

2. My first thought was a bad card. I have seen those fail.
