| strange phone display issue Our company uses DEFINITY Site Administration software and the majoriity of our users have Lucent 6408D+ phones. One user is lately having problems with the CallerID frequently not displaying the caller at the top of the phone. Any suggestions to try? Thanks! | ||||||||

| Caller ID sporadic Few questions: Do internal calls always display information? Are all of your inbound T1's ISDN? If all of your inbound T1's are not ISDN, is it possible that calls from a non-ISDN trunk are routing to this persons phone? If none of those questions are true, then does anything show on this persons display at all, even if it does not show caller ID? | ||||||||

| Reply Thank you both for the quick response. I should clarify that my knowledge level of our phone system is not on par with yours; I know enough basic administration and set-up procedures to get me by most of the time; my lack of in-depth knowledge is what makes trouble-shooting my biggest challenge. Regarding this particular problem, our phones always display who is calling, whether they are internal (name and extension) or external callers (name and phone number). It's only recently that this one user noticed that a majority of her internal incoming calls were not displaying this information; it doesn't seem to be a problem for external calls. I called her phone from my wireless (internal-based) phone while in her office and it displayed my information properly, so the problem is sporadic. She's also noticed that sometimes the caller's name will display only for a second, then disappear. Other than that, her display shows the typical information at all times. Sorry I can't be more helpful in answering your questions regarding ISDN and trunk group configurations, based on my lack of knowledge. Thanks again for your help. | ||||||||

| In response to some of the below, the reason the calling line ID sometimes only shows for a second, then disappears is that she's already on a call. Thats just the way the 6408's work. As for the rest of her display problem...check line cord , reset line cord from jack or simply replace the phone to see if its the set or perhaps wiring is the issue. It could also be calling line ID is not available for that particular call. Thats all I can think off. Hope that helps | ||||||||
