647 Has hardware

I will be moving our local service (one PRI) from BellSouth to ITC/Deltacom. Purely a cost saving move, around 25% cheaper. Seems like all I have to do is move the cable from one smart jack to another. All the setting in my Def R7 should remain the same. ?
BTW I have a 120ACSU. Love those.
I've been in telecom for 15 years but always had someone else do this type of work so while vaguely familiar with the terms I would like some advice/opinions to make sure I understand what is going on.
In speaking to ITC they wanted to know:
1. If the CO was DMS or 5ESS
I believe this is referring to what kind of switch they have at the CO (Central Office) The DMS being a Nortel and the 5ESS being an AT&T/Avaya
2. NI1 or NI2
Heard it spoken of in the past but not really knowing what it is ???
3. The D channel protocol
????

Re: Lucent G3si circuit pack info

OK, great. Overwhelming response.
I am now connecting an LD T1 (ISDN-PRI)

I have the TN464F card installed. No 120A CSU available so Ill try to use a Paradyne 3150. Cables are in place. That should work.
Built a trunk group and added the members
Added a signaling group

Now what?

Obviously we have something wrong on your end, but I'm not at work, so I can't tell you what the errors are.

Do you have a loopback plug that you can put in the CSU, and then stat the trunk group?

This should atleast verify that you have a good circuit pack.

I put a loopback plug on the end of the cable where it normally plugs into the smart jack.
Typed "stat tru 5" = same results as before, each member shows to be "out-of-service-NE"
I wonder if NE means near end?
Also, I have not done anything to the CSU, wonder if that could be a problem? I should get the manual and look at the configuration.

Conversant issue with MOH

NE does in fact mean Near End.

If you looped back to the PBX, and got the same results, then there is either a CSU problem, or maybe even a cabling issue.

I'll tell what the issue is here brutha. Lack of communication. An ole fashion. Led Zepplin / Cool Hand Luke, style communication breakdown.
The circuit is not ISDN after all. Just plain ole T1 in all its 24 channels of glory.
Works better now that I know what I'm dealin with and have stumbled thru the settings till somethin worked.

Thanks anyway
Richard
