I have s8700 PBX and I configured a new station to use IP Softphone and setup a passowrd for the station. I loaded IP softphone V5.5. I configured it to connect to my extention with the password I set for the station. My softphone is a Plantronics cs50. I also loaded PerSonoCall from Plantronics. Under selected softphones I have Avaya IP softphone. I double checked the IP of the PBX system. I aslo checked the System Parameters Customer-options of my PBX. Max Concurrently Reg IP Station >0, IP stations is y.
Problem:
I never get connected. I recive no error message. I just keeps tring to connect.
Help:
What I'm I missing?

IP Softphone Connection Problem

  • Do you have a medpro board in your switch?
  • Do you have licensing for the softphone available on the switch?
  • May be a silly question, but you are on the same LAN as the switch, no?

i guess it would just not be logical to have softphone licenses without a medpro.(maybe in time of telecommuting, but not in these lovely iptelephny days ) but besides of that, i think you should see it like this: the softphone connects to the clan board for signaling and to the medpro for bearer. if your signaling is not good, your bearer will never work correct.

the most common way to solve this issue is to eliminate other options. for example, try the software on another pc, also let a network administrator check the vlan-binding settings. Are there ip stations at your site? i mean hardphones, and are they working correct? if they do, i should not see a big reason why your softphone would not work, if you test it on the same vlan.

Most important question is: is this the first ip softphone you are going to use or is it just this one?
