So I converted my trunk group from a FAS platform, to an NFAS platform. Basically I went from individual D channels for each T1, to a primary/secondary D channel.

When I did this I was able to change the 24th channel from each T1, to a B channel.

Here is my dilemna... Any of my incoming calls that hit a 24th channel, get's an extremely loud static sound. Kind of like a radio station out of tune.

After busying out the 24th channel for each span, the noise went away.

In the process of identifying the problem, I received the following email from MCI...

Folks,

Worked and issue yesterday where incoming or outgoing callers on time slot
24 would hear a loud noise similar to monitoring a data call with a TUBER.
The customer had 166Bs and 2D. Each T1 had the noise on channel 24 except
for two span which had the d channels, of course.

Apparently the T1 interface cards have some firmware and it needs to be
RESET. The customer had used these 5 T1 card previously in another PBX where
the were "administrated" as 23B+1D. Once the RESET was complete the noise
was gone. The card firmware was reloaded/administrated as "ISDN-extended"
which mean all 24 channels are Bs.

Now, my question is this... How do I reset the firmware to the DS1 boards, or is this something that Avaya would have to do?

Thanks in advance for any help!

first please tell us about which circuitpacks you are talking about, i mean the TNxxxx code. Besides of that, i`m a little bit suprised about the fact that firmware has to be resetted:S:S i think busyout and release the circuitpack does the reset.

To bad i am in the netherlands and we only use E1 so i dont know if there are any differences between those in the way they are programmed. We also normally use the facility acossiated signaling.

Good luck!

The cards are TN464F, which I now understand, are not firmware upgradeable.

I might just need to run the reset command on each of the DS1 boards.

Thanks again Thetris!
