I am looking for some information on these phones. I found an "8400 series voice terminal" installation guide that states the 8410D phone will be able to detect whether it is in a 2 or 4 wire installation and will just come up and work

I then found the following information below on the Avaya website that seems to contradict this.

Note: These telephones are two-wire DCP terminals that work on either the two-wire/16 port TN2181 or two-wire/24 port TN2224 DCP line circuit cards (or equivalent). They cannot be used with a four-wire DCP line circuit card.

I could not find any 2 wire versus 4 wire 8410D phones listed anywhere so it doesn't look like there were 2 types. Any information is appreciated.

Lucent 8410D phones

The 8410D units will work with either the legacy 4 wire digital port or the newer 2 wire digital port. I have units throughout my facilities running on either type of port, based on availability.

Steve,

Did you have to do anyhting special to the phone or the sysem to make it come up? Could you just take an 8410D phone that is working on a 2 wire card and then move it over to a 4 wire card and it will just come up and work as longs as the wiring is correct?

That is correct. You can move the sets from one style of ports to another without having to do anything out of the ordinary. Quite versatile....
